Mechatronics and development trends of the 2000s

Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary engineering field, which combines mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and software engineering. Field of engineering that studies the automation perspective engineering to serve the purpose of controlling complex systems and integrated hardware and software manufacturing systems, robotics, automated systems in the automotive, propulsion and aircraft as well as equipment for agricultural products, homeland security (the field of electro-optics, video), external hard drives, MP3, MP4, leaches, car washing centers, electro-mechanical toys, etc.).
Mechatronics domain focuses on mechanics, electronics and computing, the synergy between branches which makes the next generation of systems simplified, more economic, reliable and multi-purpose vessels. Multidisciplinary education allows engineers Mechatronics design of such integrated systems easily compared to the work of whole teams of professionals that include both of these domains and have different views on the same system.

Such integrated systems can be found today in many areas of life both in civil and military applications such as welding and assembly robots in the automotive industry, Bio – medicine and surgery, and of course in assembly of complex electronic systems, communications chips and cards.

Expected developments in this industry in the coming years will include military applications, robotic arms to perform computer-aided surgeries, analysis and distribution of drugs. Automated vehicles are expected to facilitate driver’s task of driving, and fulfill an important role in the security field as well as part of the future battlefield. Military vehicles will be unmanned and computerized with preplanned remote operation. Also warplanes will be unmanned, combining computing and automation. Fascinating applications are expected to be dominated by robots and machines and equipped with complex electronics that will allow capabilities that were impossible just a few years ago. Despite impressive progress made to date, this is only the beginning. There is no doubt that the use of robots and computerized machines that will have artificial intelligence will be used in the future battlefield as well as in daily life, house management, the office, not to mention the heavy and the light industries. All this will go in the future beyond what we can imagine today, and many luxury products of today will become cheap and accessible in the future.

Remote control over the Internet will enable remote control of several concurrent manager interfaces on electro-mechanical machines since the Internet breaks the boundaries of remote control of machines. In addition to data transfer, the Internet will be used in the near future as remote control media of mechanical systems. Remote control of mechanical systems will allow physical contact between distant places, the ability that will contribute in many areas, such as a surgeries where  specialist doctor can analyze a patient inform a remote place and in fact, the doctor will not need to be at the same hospital where the patient will undergo the surgery. The potential is enormous and it lies in the synergy between the computer and the electronic machine. The information revolution of the last decade prepared , the next technological revolution that will focus on the integration of computer and machine.
